Malty Maca Porridge

 

As the mornings get colder and darker, porridge is such a great warming breakfast option.

Try this malty maca, cinnamon and chia seed porridge with seeds, berries, almonds and cacao nibs for some oats with a difference!

Maca is a pervuvian ‘superfood’, full of vitamins and minerals to improve your energy, mood and overall health.

Chai seeds will expand when added to liquid, providing a really filling and sustaining carbohydrate source.

Packed with antioxidants, cacao nibs might not be the sweetest but are definitely the healthiest way to eat chocolate!

INGREDIENTS (serves 1):
40g porridge oats
100ml almond milk
1 tsp chia seeds
1 tsp maca powder
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1 tbsp dried fruit/berries of your choice
1 tbsp. flaked almonds
1 tsp raw cacao nibs

METHOD:
Mix the porridge oats and chia seeds in a pan and add the almond milk

Heat on medium, stirring regularly, until the porridge starts to thicken

Once it just starts to thicken add the maca and cinnamon and keep stirring until the porridge is to the consistency you prefer

Pour into a bowl and top with the berries, almonds and cacao.

And voila – a powerhouse of energy and nutrients that will set you up for the day!
